Hardware Requirements
Check what you need before starting. OneAiMind runs entirely on your hardware — the more RAM and vRAM you have, the smarter and faster the AI.
Minimum & Recommended Specs
| Component | Minimum | Ideal | Best |
|---|---|---|---|
| RAM / DDR | 16 GB | 32 GB ⭐ | 64 GB+ |
| CPU | 64-bit, 4 cores | 8+ cores (Intel 12th+ / Ryzen 5+) | Intel Ultra 9 / Ryzen 9 |
| Storage | 100 GB free | 256 GB+ SSD | 1 TB+ NVMe SSD |
| GPU (vRAM) | Not required | 8 GB vRAM — big upgrade | 16 GB+ vRAM — ideal |
| OS | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS | Ubuntu 24.04 LTS |
| Network | For initial setup only | Recommended — cloud AI, web search | Ethernet — cloud AI, web search |
You do not need a GPU — OneAiMind runs on CPU-only machines. However, even an 8 GB vRAM GPU tremendously enhances local AI speed and quality. A 16 GB vRAM card (single or multi-card via eGPU / Oculink) is ideal for running larger models at full speed.
Recommended Mini PCs
Don't have a spare computer? These mini PCs are excellent dedicated OneAiMind servers. Models with Oculink / USB4 ports can add an external GPU for a massive AI boost.
| Model | RAM | Storage | Price Range | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beelink SEi12/SEi14 | 32 GB | 1 TB | ~$300 | 14B models, great starter |
| GMKtec NucBox G3 | 32 GB | 512 GB | ~$250 | Best value |
| Minisforum UM790 Pro | 32–64 GB | 1 TB | ~$450 | 14B–70B models — recommended |
| ASUS NUC 14 Pro | 32–64 GB | 1 TB | ~$700 | Great performance |
| Mini Gaming PC w/ Oculink | 64–96 GB | 1–2 TB | ~$800+ | Best — GPU expandable ⭐ |
The OneAiMind developer uses a Mini PC with Intel Ultra 9 285H, 96 GB DDR and an Oculink port for external GPU expansion — a compact powerhouse that runs the largest AI models locally.
How RAM & vRAM Affect AI Quality
The more RAM (system memory) or vRAM (GPU memory) you have, the larger and smarter the AI model you can run locally.
If your hardware meets the minimum specs, you're good to go. The next step is installing Ubuntu Linux on your dedicated machine.
